Warning Signs

The hospital's Stroke Center educates the community and hospital inpatients on identifying stroke symptoms.

Warning Signs Include:

  • Numbness or Weakness of The Face, Arm or Leg (Especially on One Side of The Body)
  • Sudden Confusion, Trouble Speaking or Understanding
  • Sudden Trouble Seeing
  • Sudden Dizziness, Loss of Balance or Coordination; And Sudden Severe Headache With no Known Cause

Recognizing a Stroke:  If you think a loved one is having a stroke, do the F.A.S.T. Test

Face

Ask the person to smile; does one side of the face droop?

Arms

Can the person raise both arms; does one drift down?

Speech

Can the person repeat a sentence; are words slurred?

Time

Time is critical! Call 911 or get to the hospital fast!
