Departments & Services

The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers a wide variety of outpatient diagnostic and treatment services at its Bradley Memorial and New Britain General campuses, as well as some off-site locations.

We offer advanced technology and treatments, delivered by licensed, registered, and certified professional and medical staff trained in their specific disciplines.

Ambulatory Surgery

The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers one-day surgeries in general surgery and a variety of specialty areas. Our Ambulatory Surgery units are staffed by teams of physician specialists, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, nurse anesthetists and other skilled healthcare professionals.

GI Procedures

An endoscope – a long, flexible tube with a camera on the end – allows physicians to look inside the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract for any abnormalities.

Allows physicians to examine the lining of the colon for abnormalities; diagnose colon and rectal problems, including cancer; perform biopsies; and remove colon polyps.

A thin tube with a tiny camera on the end is inserted through the nose or mouth into the lungs, allowing the physician to collect lung secretions and biopsy tissue specimens.

Before discharge from the Ambulatory Surgery and Endoscopy units, patients and their family members are given detailed instructions about home care, as well as department and physician phone numbers to call if questions remain.

Diet and Nutrition

The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers comprehensive nutrition counseling for people with medical conditions requiring changes in diet and eating habits.

Our registered dietitians, members of the American Dietetic Association, work with your physician to create individualized plans to help you meet short-term and long-term goals for improved health. The hospital also holds lectures and other educational events on nutrition for our patients and the public.

Diagnostic Centers

The hospital's diagnostic centers are staffed by highly skilled healthcare professionals. All are accessible for people with disabilities.

All specimens drawn at these locations throughout the day are processed and tested that same day in our main laboratory facility. Most tests and procedures are covered by major health insurance policies.

Outpatient Clinics

The Hospital of Central Connecticut's Outpatient Clinics provide a wide array of primary care and treatment services to the community. Physicians serve as medical directors for each clinic/area and provide care, along with about 35 physician residents. Other staff members include nurses, medical assistants, secretarial staff and a Spanish interpreter.

Respiratory Therapy

The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides inpatient and outpatient respiratory therapy for patients with emphysema, asthma, chronic bronchitis and other conditions.

Travel Clinic

Travel outside Canada and Western Europe often involves the potential for acquiring a variety of infections, including malaria, yellow fever, typhoid fever, hepatitis A, and travelers' diarrhea. The Hospital of Central Connecticut Travel Clinic provides vaccinations, preventive medications and practical advice for disease-avoidance during travel.
