Pharmacy Residency

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is excited to continue the growth of its PGY1 residency program during the 2019-2020 residency year.

The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on PharmD education and outcomes to contribute to the development of a clinical pharmacist responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Learning Experiences

The following core learning experiences are required:

  • Orientation
  • Internal Medicine I and II
  • Critical Care
  • Oncology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Research
  • Sterile Products
  • Administration/Management (longitudinal + block)
  • Teaching and Learning (longitudinal)
  • Staffing (longitudinal)

Depending on availability, elective learning experiences can be chosen from these areas:

  • Neonatal ICU
  • Cardiology
  • Ambulatory Care
  • Informatics
  • Nutrition
  • Anticoagulation Clinic
  • Surgery
  • Additional experiences in any required learning experience
