Pharmacy Residency

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is excited to continue the growth of its PGY1 residency program during the 2020-21 residency year.

The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on PharmD education and outcomes to contribute to the development of a clinical pharmacist responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Learning Experiences

The following core learning experiences are required:

  • Orientation (6 weeks)
  • Internal Medicine I and II
  • Critical Care (6 weeks)
  • Oncology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Sterile Products (2 weeks)
  • Administration/Management (longitudinal)
  • Research (longitudinal)
  • Teaching and Learning (longitudinal)
  • Staffing (longitudinal)

*All core learning experiences are 4 weeks in duration, unless otherwise noted.

Residents will complete 4 elective learning experiences during their residency year. Depending on availability, elective learning experiences can be chosen from these areas:

  • Neonatal ICU
  • Cardiology
  • Ambulatory Care
  • Informatics
  • Anticoagulation Clinic
  • Surgical ICU
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Ambulatory Oncology
