Preparing for a Sleep Study
Please follow the following guidelines:
- Do not consume any alcohol within 48 hours of your overnight study.
- Do not consume any caffeinated beverages after 3 p.m. on the day of your sleep study.
- Do not bring large sums of money or jewelry with you.
Please make sure to bring the following items to the hospital on the evening of your test:
- Personal items needed for you to comfortably prepare for sleep.
- Your own pillow if it will enhance a good night's sleep.
- Any medication you normally take during the hours you will be in the Sleep Disorders Center.
- The completed sleep questionnaire and diary that were provided by the Sleep Center.
- Your hospital garage parking ticket.
Arriving at the Hospital
Please park in the Quigley garage on Grand Street (entrance next to main hospital entrance).
- Enter the hospital through the double glass doors on the lobby level of the garage.
- Press the intercom buzzer to the right of the second set of glass doors.
- Announce yourself to the security officer.
- Enter the hospital lobby and follow signs to the Sleep Center.
- Once you arrive in the Sleep Disorders Center, you will be directed to a private bedroom specially equipped to monitor and record your sleep activity.
Upon your arrival, please notify the technician if you have to be awakened by a specific time in the morning. You will be discharged from the Sleep Center no later than 7 a.m. the morning following your test.
