Departments & Services

The Hospital of Central Connecticut care team includes board-certified cardiologists, medical and surgical intensivists (doctors who specialize in intensive care), cardiac care nurses, respiratory therapists, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, nutritionists and other specially trained staff members.

These units work closely with other departments, including Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

In addition, the hospital includes telemetry units staffed by board-certified cardiologists and specially trained nurses and technicians. Telemetry allows caregivers to simultaneously monitor the hearts of multiple patients at once. Blood-oxygen level, blood pressure and heart rates and rhythms are continuously measured and data relayed to computers. Information is continually monitored, allowing staff to react quickly to changes in a patient’s condition.

Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory offers a catheter based approach to evaluate the heart and artery function, as well as perform angioplasty to open blocked arteries.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s Cardiac Rehabilitation programs include closely supervised exercise, ongoing education, risk factor modification, and counseling for people with heart disease, including angina or heart failure, and those who have had a heart attack, heart surgery or angioplasty.

Cardiology Tests

The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers a variety of services and technologies to diagnose cardiac conditions and monitor the effectiveness of treatments.

Critical Care

The Critical Care Unit offers services which are all inclusive, extensive treatments for conditions of the heart causing it to work inefficiently. Conditions like cardiac arrest, heart failure, high or low blood pressure can be treated with a number of sophisticated therapies.

Electrophysiology Services

Cardiac arrhythmias are conditions of the heart that disturb the heart rhythm. The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers electrophysiologic expertise that includes both the medical management of the arrhythmias as well as implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators.

Emergency Care Services

The Emergency Department teams at The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s Bradley Memorial and New Britain General campuses are fully prepared to deal with a variety of cardiac emergencies.

Women's Heart Wellness Center

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is proud to be a founding member, and the first hospital in New England, to be part of the WomenHeart National Hospital Alliance.
