Hospital offering free mammograms Oct. 4 to eligible women

(New Britain, Conn.) – The Hospital of Central Connecticut will offer free screening mammograms and clinical breast exams to eligible women on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Diagnostic Breast Center, Building C, 40 Hart St., New Britain.
At the screening, several medical professionals will be on hand including a breast radiologist, breast surgeon and breast navigator to answer questions and concerns. Polish and Spanish translators will also be available. A preliminary report will be provided on examination day.
Women are also welcome to receive a free chair massage and Reiki, an alternate therapy for well-being. Light refreshments will be served.
Women who are eligible for the free screening must meet the following criteria:
- are age 40 or older and have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months;
- have no insurance or insurance with a very high deductible;
- have no breast cancer history, current symptoms or breast problems.
