Healthy Family FunFest seeks youth volunteers for Feb. 22 event

In preparation for the 6th annual Healthy Family FunFest to be held 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, event organizers are seeking youth volunteers, ages 15 to 18, to help support event activities.
The free Family FunFest will be held at the Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry St., in the Plantsville section of Southington.
About 50 volunteers are needed between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with two-hour shifts also available. Youth groups from churches, civic organizations and students seeking community service credit are encouraged to call Linda Tipping, community outreach coordinator, The Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial, 860.224.5402.
Living a healthy lifestyle is the theme for this year’s event that will feature exhibits and vendors focused on healthy living, education and green initiatives. Healthy Family FunFest will include wellness tips from experts on a variety of topics including eating right and exercise; screenings for blood pressure, balance risk, glucose as well as bone density checks; radio personalities Renee DiNino and Cory Myers; Dave Caperton, an award-winning educator, performance consultant, stand-up comedian and writer; entertainment and demonstrations; a kids’ section; healthy aging; as well as food samples, free giveaways, and contests and challenges.
Healthy Family FunFest is presented by Central Connecticut Senior Health Services, the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA and The Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial.
