Hospital of Central Connecticut welcomes first baby of 2011

Tina Guzman never expected to have a New Year’s baby.
The New Britain woman’s first child wasn’t due until Jan. 8, but after three days of contractions, she decided on Jan. 1 to go to the hospital. That night, at 10:56 p.m., her daughter, Leila, became the first baby of 2011 born at HCC’s Family BirthPlace. Proud father Ozzy Khamsouk of Torrington says Leila weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long.
The hospital presented the excited parents with a gift basket to celebrate the happy occasion.
