Hospital to hold “Cancer-Fighting Kitchen” lecture, cooking demo
New Britain [October 29 2010] -
The Hospital of Central Connecticut will hold a free talk and cooking demonstration, “The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen, Big-Flavor Recipes for a Healthy Holiday Season” Thursday, Nov. 18, at the hospital’s New Britain General campus, 100 Grand St. Registration is at 5:30 p.m.; the program begins at 6 p.m. and includes a light dinner.
Space is limited. Please RSVP by Nov. 12, (860) 224-5299. Cookbooks will be sold at the event. Validated parking in Quigley Garage next to hospital entrance.
Sponsored by the hospital’s George Bray Cancer Center and the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative, the event features Rebecca Katz, M.S., a national expert on the role of food in supporting health during cancer treatment. Katz earned her master’s degree in health and nutrition education and received her culinary training from New York’s Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts. She has written cookbooks for cancer patients and survivors and is executive chef for the Center for Mind-Body Medicine’s Food as Medicine and Cancer Guides Professional Training Programs.
