Hospital of Central Connecticut employees recognized for service, dedication

New Britain [May 21 2010] - The Hospital of Central Connecticut recognized 217 employees May 12 during the annual Employee Recognition Awards reception at the hospital’s New Britain General campus.

Employees from both the Bradley Memorial and New Britain General campuses were honored for achieving service milestones in the preceding year, including Barbara Andrews, who recently completed 50 years as assistant to the hospital president. Also honored were Carol Duksa, for 45 years of service; and Jeanne Gauvin, Sandria Lyn and Maryann Redman, 40 years of service. In addition, many more were honored for 35, 30, 25, 20, 15 and 10 years of service.

Also recognized at the reception was Bogdan Musial, clinical pharmacy program coordinator, recipient of the Medical Staff Recognition Award.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the President’s Award for Excellence in Customer Service to Mark Spellacy, supervisor of the hospital’s patient transport department.

The annual Award for Excellence is the hospital’s highest customer service honor. It’s designed to recognize an outstanding employee who embodies exemplary customer service, an ongoing commitment to customers, innovation and creativity in resolving customer issues and continuous improvement in customer service.

In presenting the award, hospital President Clarence J. Silvia noted that since Spellacy joined the hospital in 2005, “he has continually and enthusiastically demonstrated his passion for providing our patients with safe, compassionate and prompt service, while providing our caregivers with the timely and efficient support they desire.”
Spellacy said he was “overwhelmed” by the honor.
“The award has my name on it, but it is truly all about the team behind me – my outstanding staff,” he said.
