Kids helping kids: Tennis Tournament to Benefit Children’s Programs
New Britain [August 17 2006] -
More than 50 young people and adults will show that “love” means more than a tennis score at the Children’s Charities Tennis Classic, Aug. 18-20 in New Britain.
The event, which raises money to help New Britain General Hospital’s youngest patients, will include young players 8-25 playing singles and doubles matches and adult singles matches. All proceeds from entry fees will be donated to:
- The Pedi-Play program, which gives age-appropriate toys, games and books to young patients staying in the hospital.
- The Reach Out and Read Books for Babies programs, which give beginning reading books to little patients and their parents who otherwise could not afford them.
- New toys for New Britain General’s Pediatric Outpatient Clinic.
For the past 27 years, the Children’s Charities Tennis Classic has drawn young people and adults from throughout Central Connecticut and raised over $84,000 for hospital children’s programs.
