Hospital of Central Connecticut Exercise Physiologist Honored

Susan Bennett, M.S., R.C.E.P., C.E.S., of Cheshire has received the 2008 Connecticut Society for Cardiac Rehabilitation Achievement Award.
The biannual award recognizes people who have made extraordinary contributions in the primary and/or secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Bennett , a registered clinical exercise physiologist and certified exercise specialist with The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s Department of Health Promotion, received the award at the society’s quarterly regional meeting in October.
Bennett has been involved in health promotion and cardiac rehabilitation since 1991. She currently works with patients in the hospital’s All Heart Cardiac Rehabilitation program and has worked with the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate.
She earned her master’s degree in cardiac rehabilitation and exercise physiology from Springfield College, Springfield, Mass., and is registered and certified through the American College of Sports Medicine.
Bennett has published research in the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and is involved in numerous professional activities, recently completing terms as Connecticut Society for Cardiac Rehabilitation president and treasurer.
