Hospital makes medical staff appointments

New Britain [September 25 2008] - The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s board of directors has approved the following medical staff appointments:

Surgical Oncology
James F. Flaherty, M.D., FACS, a surgical oncologist, has joined the hospital’s medical staff. He earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. He completed a residency in general surgery, University of Connecticut Health Center; and a fellowship in surgical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia. He has been in practice for 10 years. Flaherty now practices at Central Connecticut Surgical Oncology, 40 Hart St., Building D, (860) 827-1981.

Infectious Disease
Waleed Javaid, M.D., who specializes in infectious disease, has joined the hospital’s medical staff. Javaid earned his medical degree at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in infectious disease at State University of New York Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, N.Y. Javaid is in practice at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, (860) 224-5510.

Otolaryngology (ear, nose, throat)
George Melnik, M.D., FACS, an otolaryngologist, has joined the hospital’s medical staff. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis. He completed a residency in otolaryngology at Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Melnik is in practice at Connecticut Balance Center at Grove Hill, 292 West Main St., (860) 224-2631; and 55 Meriden Ave., Southington, (860) 621-6761.

Interventional Pain Management
Roshni Patel, M.D., who specializes in interventional pain management, has joined the hospital’s medical staff. She earned her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica. She completed a residency in neurology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and a fellowship in interventional pain management at New York University, New York City. Patel is in practice at Grove Hill Medical Center, 73 Cedar St., New Britain (860) 832-4666.

Internal Medicine
William Rabitaille, M.D., an internist, has joined the hospital’s medical staff. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla, N.Y.; and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Boston University Medical Center, Boston. He is in practice at Connecticut Kensington Primary Care, 320 New Britain Ave., Kensington, (860) 828-3361; and the Hospital of Central Connecticut Outpatient Medical Clinic, (860) 224-5261.
