New development fund honors Dr. James Hoffman
New Britain [October 22 2007] -
The Hospital of Central Connecticut announces a new, endowed fund to benefit the Gynecologic Oncology program in the George Bray Cancer Center.
The James S. Hoffman, M.D., Gynecologic Oncology Fund has been established in honor of Hoffman, a Hospital of Central Connecticut gynecologic oncologist, with an initial gift from Bruce and Katherine Rudolph.
“This fund was created by two people who were in the midst of incredible circumstances and took the time to stop and ask how they could help others,” says David Obedzinski, chief development officer.
Katherine died earlier this year after losing her battle with cancer. While a patient, she and her husband decided to establish this fund to support the Gynecologic Oncology program in the George Bray Cancer Center and to honor the work of Hoffman, her physician.
The fund, currently at approximately $15,000, includes additional tribute gifts made in Katherine’s memory. Once the fund reaches a minimum of $25,000, interest generated from it will support annual research, patient treatment programs, physician and staff education and patient education in the Gynecologic Oncology area.
Bruce Rudolph, of Wallingford, said his wife was “treated with love, compassion, expertise and resources that gave her hope that her battle would be waged at the highest possible level. At no time did she or her family feel anything other than comfort in the knowledge that she was being given every chance to survive.”
