Hospital opens new Center for Joint Care
New Britain [September 28 2007] -
The Hospital of Central Connecticut recently celebrated its new Center for Joint Care at the New Britain General campus with a Sept. 23 community open house.
The event welcomed the public to tour the center and meet its staff, including physicians, nurses and physical therapists. Visitors also had an opportunity to view joint replacement parts and see a video discussing joint replacement and osteoarthritis.
The newly renovated Center for Joint Care, which opened in early August, has 12 private rooms for patients recovering from hip, knee or shoulder joint replacement and a state-of-the-art rehabilitation unit. The center is part of the hospital’s Joint and Spine Center and complements the adjacent 18-bed general orthopedic and spine services unit. The hospital performs more than 500 joint replacement procedures annually.
Event speakers from the hospital were Clarence Silvia, senior vice president and COO; orthopedic surgeon Richard Froeb, M.D., medical director, Center for Joint Care; orthopedic surgeon Robert Belniak, M.D., chief, Orthopedics; and Dianne Vye, R.N., M.S.N., Joint Replacement Program manager.
