New Britain Woman, Nurse Technician, Wins Customer Service Award
New Britain [May 25 2007] -
Amy Farr of New Britain, a nursing technician in the medical telemetry unit at The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s New Britain General campus, recently won the hospital’s highest honor for exemplary customer service.
Farr received The 2007 President’s Award for Excellence in Customer Service May 10 at the hospital’s Employee Recognition Dinner at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. Hospital President and CEO Laurence Tanner presented her with the prize – a four-night “Magic Your Way” vacation package to Disney World for four.
She is the first person to receive this annual award, designed to honor and recognize an outstanding employee who embodies exceptional customer service, an ongoing commitment to customers, innovation and creativity in resolving customer issues and continuous improvement in customer service.
“I’m totally surprised by this award,” said Farr, a hospital employee since 2002. “I’m grateful and humbled.”
Farr has been involved in several key patient safety and customer service initiatives on the nursing unit. She recently developed a procedure that alerts caregivers by mobile phone when a patient at risk of falls gets out of bed.
“Amy always has her eyes and ears open for ways to improve patient care, patient safety and patient satisfaction,” said Karen Martin, RN, director of the medical telemetry unit.
Farr trains new nurse technicians, and provides exemplary clinical care and emotional support to patients and their families, often visiting former patients who have been transferred to other units.
