Hollfelder Foundation Awards Hospital Breast Cancer Prevention Grant
New Britain [May 10 2007] -
The Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Foundation has awarded $12,000 to a breast cancer prevention program at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.
Funds will benefit the Connecticut Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program at the hospital. They’ll be used for early detection educational materials and to help cover routine mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women.
The Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Foundation was established by Fred Hollfelder to honor his late wife. Since 1997, the foundation has given more than $50,000 to support the Early Detection Program at the hospital.
The program offers many breast cancer screening and diagnostic services free, including office visits, screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast biopsies, breast ultrasounds, fine-needle aspirations, and clinical breast exams.
For more information about the Early Detection Program, call Diane Walczok, program case manager, (860) 224-5505.
