Hospital Wins Multiple Advertising Awards

New Britain [May 17 2006] - New Britain General Hospital has won five prestigious awards for its marketing efforts in two separate competitions. These include two national Healthcare Advertising Awards; as well as three Lamplighter awards from the New England Society of Healthcare Communicators.

The annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, now in its 23rd year, is sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report, and is one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious healthcare advertising awards competitions. Nearly 4,000 entries were submitted this year from every state as well as several foreign nations. New Britain General earned a bronze award for a radio commercial entitled “A Bigger World” promoting its Weigh Your Options clinical weight loss center and weight loss surgery program. The Hospital also received a merit award for the Weigh Your Options logo.

“We are particularly proud of these awards, because these ads were written and designed by our own corporate communications department, and faced stiff competition from other healthcare institutions and advertising agencies from across the country,” said Helayne Lightstone, director of corporate communications.

The Weigh Your Options advertising campaign also received recognition from the New England Society of Healthcare Communicators, a professional association representing healthcare organizations and agencies from the entire New England region. The hospital garnered a Lamplighter Award of Excellence for total advertising campaign for Weigh Your Options, which included newspaper, radio, print and outdoor advertising. The campaign’s billboard also achieved an individual Lamplighter Award of Excellence.

The Hospital received its third Lamplighter Award of Excellence in the recruitment marketing category for its graduate nurse recruitment campaign, which also included print, radio and outdoor ads as well as promotional giveaways. The Lamplighters were judged by healthcare marketing professionals from a similar society in the Carolinas.
