Dr. Jan Zislis Joins Staff at New Britain General
New Britain [July 12 2006] -
Jan Zislis, M.D., FACEP, has joined the staffs of New Britain General and Bradley Memorial Hospitals as assistant medical director for the Department of Emergency Medicine. He will also serve as director of emergency ultrasound, director of emergency department education and coordinator of Emergency Medical Services
Dr. Zislis was most recently an attending physician in Norwalk Hospital’s Emergency Department. He also served as an attending physician concurrently at Greenwich Hospital. Prior to that, he was an attending emergency physician at North Shore University Hospitals in Manhasset and Forest Hills, New York.
Dr. Zislis received his MD from the Technion–Rappaport Faculty of Medicine in Haifa, Israel and completed an integrated residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Hartford, and St. Francis Hospitals.
Prior to earning his MD, he received a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at Touro College School of Health Sciences in New York and a professional certificate in biotechnology engineering from Tufts University in Massachusetts. Dr. Zislis earned his bachelor’s degree in Russian studies and pre-healing arts from Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania. He is proficient in Russian, Hebrew, and Spanish.
Dr. Zislis is board certified in emergency medicine and is licensed in Connecticut and New York.
Among Dr. Zislis’s professional activities and appointments, he was a physician member of Norwalk Hosital’s GE Six Sigma Throughput Project committee, to increase efficiency and improve patient care. He was also the section chief of emergency ultrasound within Norwalk’s Emergency Department and Medical Director for Westport EMS. As a resident at UConn, he earned several honors, including appointment as chief resident.
Dr. Zislis lives in Rye Brook, New York, with his wife, Janice, and their daughter Julia.
