Childbirth education classes
Childbirth education classes are available. Early in your pregnancy, contact the Department of Health Promotion at (860) 224-5433 for information or to register.
Prepared Childbirth Education Program (fee charged)
Weekday evening or Saturday afternoon classes;
call for available slots
Topics include:
- Stages and phases of labor and birth
- Relaxation, breathing and other coping skills
- Cesarean birth options
- Postpartum family planning and early parenting
- Hospital tour
Breast-feeding class
In-depth presentation on nursing your baby, with many tips for success. Ongoing support and consultation are available through the instructor.
Sibling class
Presentation and Ferdinand Sauer, MD Family BirthPlace tour for the new baby's siblings. Offered one Saturday each month.
