Translation services
Translation Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through hospital volunteers or CyraPhone™ equipment, located throughout both campuses. Two other CyraPhone systems are available as required for use in any area of the hospital. Any patient needing to discuss healthcare issues through a translator should ask their healthcare provider for translation service assistance.
The Hospital of Central Connecticut makes every attempt to use our translators or translator systems for interpreting communication between patient and caregiver, to avoid the use of family members, friends or others who accompany patients being asked to act as interpreter for the patient.

Assistance for Deaf and Hearing Impaired patients
To ensure effective communication with patients and their companions who are deaf or hearing impaired, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides, for free:
- Sign language and oral interpreters
- TTYs
- Note-takers and computer-assisted real time transcription services
- Written materials
- Telephone handset amplifiers and hearing aid-compatible phones
- Assistive listening devices and systems
- Other programs/devices

Medical Social Worker

Professional counseling is available to patients and their families to assist with personal issues that may arise from illness or hospitalization. Social workers may also provide referrals to programs and resources outside the hospital. Our Social Work department can be contacted during a hospital stay or after discharge. Social workers are also available in the Outpatient and Emergency departments.

Care coordinators can help arrange care after your discharge from the hospital. This may include a rehabilitation or extended-care facility, home care or other services. Learn more about

Pastoral Care
Bradley Memorial campus
Community clergy regularly visit the Bradley Memorial campus. At admission, you will be given the opportunity to provide us with the name of your place of worship or religious affiliation. If you wish a clergy visit during your stay, notify your nurse.
New Britain General campus
Upon admission you will be given the opportunity to provide us with the name of your place of worship or religious affiliation, who may be informed of your admission. In addition, the New Britain General Campus has two chaplains, who provide pastoral care services on a non-denominational basis. If you have not been visited by a chaplain you may ask your nurse to contact the chaplain.
Health Sciences library
The hospital has an extensive Health Sciences Library that includes print resources, as well as electronic journals, a number of medical databases, medical image libraries and numerous other resources. Our staff will be happy to assist you in locating information.
