PRIDE Study
Diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Previous Trouble with the Law?
You are not alone. More people with serious mental illness in this country are in jails and prisons than in hospitals*. If this is you or someone you know then learn about the PRIDE study - a research study especially for people diagnosed with schizophrenia who have had trouble with the law. This study is testing the benefits of a long-acting, once-monthly injection vs. a daily pill in treating schizophrenia.
The PRIDE Study
You may qualify if you:
- Are 18 to 65 years of age.
- Have been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
- Have been released from jail, prison, or other physical setting utilized by the local criminal justice system, within the past 2 years.
- Have had trouble with the law in the past 90 days (incarceration or other problem).
- Have a way you can be contacted.
- Have an address or phone number where you can be reached
- Have a person (family member, friend, case manager, probation/parole officer) who is familiar with your daily activities. If you cannot be reached, this person must agree to update the study staff about any changes in your life.
By participating in the PRIDE Study, you will:
- Take a more active role in your own healthcare
- Receive study medication at no cost
- Receive study-related medical care at no cost
- Possibly help yourself and others by contributing to medical research
